The New Ships of the New Anglican Confederation Royal Navy

Assault ships of the RNMC:

Though officially coming under the umbrella of the RN High Command, the Royal Navy Marine Corp (RNMC) is a semi autonomous body that can to a large degree supply and support itself.  A combination of the old Royal Marine Commandos and the United States Marine Corp, the RNMC has developed its own character which is more than just a mix of its parents.  Prior to the Xeno War the RNMC maintained a force of Landing Ships equipped with drop ships and well trained Marines.  Their primary role was as a quick reaction force that could move to whichever system may find itself under attack by the landing forces of the enemy.  These large forces would be fully supported by large fleets of RN vessels that would provide the support and planetary bombardment functions.  During the Xeno War this approach had to be reassessed, the large fleets of slow Landing Ships suffered greatly from light Kra'Vak raiders.  Added to this was the increased incidence of Piracy within the NAC lines of communication, and the great attrition suffered by the RN.  With the loss of much of its shipping and increased need to act in small forces against lawlessness with little support from them RN, the ships of the RNMC began to be used smaller number, using their own support vessels and providing their own bombardment capabilities.  This range of MkII Landing Ships represent where the majority of shipping of the RNMC is currently at, it is by no means comprehensive given the large number of RNMC variants and ad-hoc ships that have been pressed into service.

Assault Ships:

Galahad II Class LSP:

The most common variant of the new class, she features fours Platoon sized Dropships.  She can carry more cargo than her predecessor, and is more structurally sound.  The armament has been upgraded to provide better defence from light raiders and can also provide a high degree of bombardment support to her troops.

Galahad II Class LSO:

A common variant of the class, the LSO is fitted out to carry more vehicles and other cargo than the LSP.  With the same offensive weaponry the only defensive difference is a small increase in armor protection.  She carries two of the standard Platoon sized Dropships that the LSP carries, but also hosts the a huge company sized dropship, which can be used to carry large numbers of vehicles down to a planet's surface in support of operations.  Another common usage that have been seen in RNMC missions lately is the replacement of the Company Dropship with one of the smaller Platoon sized ones plus a squadron of fighters.  This has allowed an ad-hoc carrier to support RNMC missions when the RN is unable to provide it.
