Teddy Bears

How to paint a 7 years picnic bear

Unfortunately the pictures of the two next stages didn't turn out, so all I have is the finished product.  Basically what came next was the fine details, I.e. The buttons, which I did in a deep gold color (I only realized later they should have been white).  I then gave the figures various washes of the surface color mixed with a little black.  This is a pretty rough technique designed more for speed than great looking minis.  I then dry brushed with the surface colors mixed with a little white.  Once again for a better effect use a small brush to highlight high point rather than dry brush.  Also use white not gray for dry brushing black.  The bases were then covered in glue and green sand applied to them. Then a few dobs of glue were put at random on each base and some Woodland Scenic grass applied.  And then last but certainly not least the minis were sprayed with a of matt varnish.

Here's some close ups of the individual miniatures

A very similar approach was used for these Dragoons, the main difference was less dry brushing and more individual brushwork on the highlights.  Note the stripes on the wooden swords.  I also noticed that the tricorns worn by Prussians had little pom-poms on the sides, so I added some with tiny balls of DAS clay glued into place.

I hope to have the General finished soon so I can stick his picture up (actually he's painted, it's his rocking horse that's taking the time.)
