Teddy Bears

How to paint a 7 years picnic bear

This is a quick display of some bears I painted from the 7 Years.  I have painted them up in the colors of the army of Frederick the Great.

Firstly I grabbed all of the minis I had and removed any flash with a small file and a scalpel

Here's private Bear after being filed

I the based up all of the figure.  The infantry I glued to standard Games Workshop bases.  For the Dragoons I used medium sized bases from Flames of War.  Here I realized big mistake I had made, I should have glued the Dragoons to temporary pop stick bases as the Flames of War ones get in the way of painting.  The General is only sitting on his rocking horse for the picture, he's actually not glued down yet.  Learning from my blunder with the Dragoons, I glued the General to a temporary base made of MDF for painting (not shown).

All of the minis were now undercoated with matt white spray paint.  I used Dulux as I've found cheaper canned paints tend to spit and leave globs on the figures. Many people use matt black undercoat, and this is great, it's actually easier in many ways to use black, especially for shading
