He resided between 1886 and 1906 in Victoria. John came to WA about 1906 to follow the gold. He was the youngest qualified metallurgist on the fields at that time. John and Stella lived at Kookynie and at Comet Hill as well as Kalgoorlie. About 1925 he fell victim to the Jimmy Mitchell scam and then took up a Group Settlement Block in Group 31at Jarnup / Middlesex - about 8 kms out of Jardee. They lived in a tent settlement until there was enough land cleared to build a house and then proceeded to farm cows and apples. He was one of the survivors due to the efforts of his girls who were all required to work on the property. He stayed on the farm until late 40's early 50's when they went to live at Armadale. This was not a happy move & they retuned to Manjimup.

Children of John Arthur Prosser (30) and Stella Alice Cort (31) were as follows:
Ruth was a very intelligent lady who was not given the opportunity to develop her many skills when she was a young person. She started work as book keeper in Boan's where she was highly thought of but unfortunately her father, who had abandoned a very good career in metallurgy to take up a Group Settlement Block in Middlesex, demanded that she go home & work the block. It was hard dreary work for all the girls, with dairy cows and an orchard and very little money. She was a most capable young woman - skilled in needlecraft, cooking, home making and also in a leadership role in her community. At 24 she was the youngest CWA secretary in the district. When she lived in Jardee she was a mentor to many young mothers. After Don died she stayed as matron at St Christophers and the many death notices & cards received by the family were testimony to the work that she had done there over the years.
She was a Hostel Matron between 1958 and 1974 in St Christopher's Boys Hostel, Northam, Western Australia.
Karrakatta records show John lived in West Perth and died aged 2.
