John LOGAN (78); born 10 Aug 1828 at Kilbirnie Parish, Ayr; married Martha Smith (79), daughter of Edward Smith (259) and Mary Unknown (260), 22 Dec 1864 at The dwelling house of Edward Smith, Murray Ranges (near Mount Pleasant), Hundred North Rhine, South Australia; They were married by Rev A.R. Phillips and the marriage was witnessed by Edward Smith & Ann Church of near Mount Brown. At the time of his wedding John was said to be an 'overseer on sheep station' and residing at North Rhine; died 25 Sep 1905 at Hyde Park, Adelaide, South Australia, at age 77.

Martha SMITH (79) was born on 22 Sep 1847 at Kent. She died on 12 Oct 1932 at Private Hospital, Wakefield Street, Adelaide, South Australia, at age 85. She was buried at West Terrace Cemetery, Adelaide, South Australia. Before she died she was living at 21 Ormond Grove, Toorak Gardens, Adelaide, South Australia.

Meg & children - Rex, Ted & Pat were at Glen Ferrie, South Australia, in 1907.

Generation One

11. William LOGAN (263); born 27 Mar 1832 at Kilbirnie Parish, Ayr; married Isabella Rodger (264) 11 Nov 1858 at South Australia; married Alice Charlotte Allen (266), daughter of John Henry Allen (270) and unknown (--?--) (271), 7 Feb 1868 at Congregational Church, Bagots Well, South Australia; died 12 Sep 1925 at Wilson, South Australia, at age 93.

From a paper cutting at the time of William Logan's death it stated that he came out to Australia at the age of 21 years and in Melbourne worked at his trade as a carpenter for two years. He then took up land at Bagot's Well and farmed for some years. When the northern areas were opened up he took up land in the Hundred of Narridy. The block where he lived is only a couple of miles from where Max and Natalie Logan lived, and it was named 'Shadey Bower'. William Logan did the carpentering in the Huddleston School which opened in 1880. In a photo album that belonged to William Logan is a photo of John Logan and his wife Martha. The William Logan history provided for 'Hawker, Hub of the Flinders', says, - William Logan was born at Kilburnie Scotland in 1832, arrived aged 21 and settled first at Truro and later at Huddleston. Finally, when 61, he took up a farm near Wilson in 1893 where he died in 1925 in his 94th year. He named his farm (west of the town) 'The Dell'. Later he moved to another in the area naming it 'Glen Ness'. He was an able carpenter and some of his cupboards are still in use today. William loved poetry and often read the works of Shakespeare, Tennyson, and Wordsworth.

Isabella RODGER (264) was born in 1838. She died on 2 Apr 1862. She was buried at Truro Cemetery, Turo, South Australia.

12. Violet LOGAN (265) (William); born 10 Nov 1859 at Bagots Well, South Australia; married John McNeil (349) 19 Jul 1888.

The family lived in Wilson, Murray Town and Laura Districts before moving to Huddleston in 1912 when Robert bought some land from his uncle James McNeil. John, Violet and daughters Violet and Stella moved to St Peters in 1925.

13. Annie Florence LOGAN (268) (William); born 28 Jan 1878 at Huddleston, South Australia; married Oliver Crossman (360), son of Henry Thomas Crossman (1114) and Pamela Badman (1115), 16 Mar 1908 at Wilson, South Australia; died 4 Aug 1952 at Clare, South Australia, at age 74.

She and Oliver Crossman (360) resided near Craddock and later moved to the Clare Area.

Oliver CROSSMAN (360) was born on 22 Oct 1866 at Saddleworth, South Australia. He died on 13 Dec 1945 at Clare, South Australia, at age 79.

14. Stanley Robert LOGAN (269) (William); born 21 Feb 1880 at Gladstone, South Australia; married Frances Eva Patterson (361) 18 Mar 1908 at Methodist Church, Wilson, South Australia; died 26 Jan 1953 at North Quorn, South Australia, at age 72.

Frances Eva PATTERSON (361) was born on 3 Aug 1882. She died on 19 Feb 1962 at North Quorn, South Australia, at age 79.

She came to Australia possibly in 1850/1.

James MILLER (343) was born in 1819. He died on 2 Jan 1888 at Truro, South Australia. He was buried at Truro Cemetery, Turo, South Australia. He & Janet Miller lived in Keyneton Angaston way South Australia. Possibility that they lived in Truro later in life. James was a J.P. (noted on his head stone).

He came to Australia when 18 mths.

He was a farmer circa 1940 at Truro, South Australia.

Charlotte BAXTER (658) was born on 15 Jun 1860. She died on 26 Sep 1940 at age 80.
