Very early in the research of
my Logan line I was given a copy of "The Genealogy of
the Logans of Kilbirnie", compiled by William Logan of Coldstream, Kilbirnie
circa 1855. This document details
the descendants of the marriage on 26 Nov 1713 of David LOGAN and Agness AITKEN
through to the 1850s and has formed
the basis of my research into the Kilbirnie Logans and the related families.
The type written version I obtained does contain some transcription errors however I have
been able to confirm most of the data through reference to the original Parish
records via microfilm at various Family History Centers.
Scanned copies of the 9 pages of this document are provided for reference
and general interest. (Note that all of this data is included in the
Kilbirnie Families
pages including the corrections to the errors I found.)
Subsequently I have been very
fortunate to obtain a hand written copy of the original document, titled
"Genealogy of the Kilbirnie and Lochwinnoch Logans"
Compiled in 1828 by Dr A Crawford, Johnshill Lochwinnoch; continued and ramified
in 1854 by Mr William Logan, Coldstream, Kilbirnie.
This document has at least 4 different hand writing styles in it and includes
some entries for events after William's death prompting myself and other
researchers to believe that subsequent owners of this document have added their
own notes over time. Parts of the data in this hand written document
are still being verified and have not been transferred to the online data at
this time.
