  He was a young man of great promise. He was a schoolmaster in Johnstone where he was very successful. He returned home to Windy Balgray where he died of consumption. His sister, Agnes said of him, that he was of mild and quiet disposition, but exceedingly witty and fond of harmless diversion. She said, one day whilst attending to the fire, to use her own words, as a wee dour to kenle, geid some them to Kerr to open the door or the fire wad gae out. "Na, na, Nannie woman", qho Jamie, "wad it not be liker the thing to hae the door steekit to keep it in."

John AITKINE (404) was born circa 1750. He was Laird of Ferretside, Dalry Parish. Ultimately he went through the farm, became poor, and removed to Greenock.

From a paper cutting at the time of William Logan's death it stated that he came out to Australia at the age of 21 years and in Melbourne worked at his trade as a carpenter for two years. He then took up land at Bagot's Well and farmed for some years. When the northern areas were opened up he took up land in the Hundred of Narridy. The block where he lived is only a couple of miles from where Max and Natalie Logan lived, and it was named 'Shadey Bower'. William Logan did the carpentering in the Huddleston School which opened in 1880. In a photo album that belonged to William Logan is a photo of John Logan and his wife Martha. The William Logan history provided for 'Hawker, Hub of the Flinders', says, - William Logan was born at Kilburnie Scotland in 1832, arrived aged 21 and settled first at Truro and later at Huddleston. Finally, when 61, he took up a farm near Wilson in 1893 where he died in 1925 in his 94th year. He named his farm (west of the town) 'The Dell'. Later he moved to another in the area naming it 'Glen Ness'. He was an able carpenter and some of his cupboards are still in use today. William loved poetry and often read the works of Shakespeare, Tennyson, and Wordsworth.

Children of Jessie Logan (1920) and John Wilson (1943) were:

• i. Mary (1944); born circa 1887.

He and Jenny May Ronald (1945) resided in Mar 1893 at 4 Nelson Street, West Greenock, Renfrewshire. He started as an upholsterer's apprentice, but moved to Glasgow where he became one of the three 'Glasgow Style' furniture

designers (Taylor, Eadie and Logan) for the firm of Wylie and Lochhead, working at the same time as Charles Rennie MacIntosh, and designing exhibition rooms for the Glasgow International Exhibition in 1901. Some of their work is exhibited in the 1900 room in the Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum in Glasgow. George settled in Greenock and then in Gourock.

Jenny May RONALD (1945) was born in 1871 according to marriage registration. She came from Greenock.

Children of George Black Logan (1921) and Jenny May Ronald (1945) were as follows:

• i. Jessie May (1946); born 1893.

• ii. Robert Walter (1947); born 1897; married Edith Cattanach (1949) 1925; died 1983.

  He was a ships draughtsman. He resided in Apr 1930 at 14 Cow Road, Gourock.

• iii. Violet (1948) is still living.
