Quikblast

QuikBlast is a tool for designing blast patterns and controlling sample numbers. Create patterns with ore and waste areas. Create files for layout in the field and up- loading to the assay database. Uses Surpac and Minemap files.

Significant Breakthrough!
This is a new approach to an old problem - how to turn over sample assays more efficiently. It is more than a computer program. It is a turnkey system - a total solution providing a focal point and tool for all personnel. It standardises work practices and data handling.
What is QuikBlast?
By its very nature, the QuikBlast system requires that all departments plan their next sampling and blasting area, so that statistics like the number of ore and waste holes, sample bags, sample numbering, pattern size and location are all known, plotted on a plan, before a rig even enters the area.

It is a tool for Mine Planners, Engineers, Geologists, and Surveyors. It's an easy-to-use graphical program for creating blast patterns with or without sampling control. Use it as an inexpensive add-on to your usual mining software.

How does it work?
The ore, waste and design boundaries are contained in string files. These can be simple closed loops or quite complex islands of exclusion or inclusion. They can be created from your mine software package, or can be created in the QuikBlast line editor. The pattern is easily designed by selecting type and dimension. It is computed and the grade file created. The grade control file is uploaded directly into the sample data base and into the survey data recorder. Sample lines are layed on the ground by sample number. They are marked clearly by sample number. The surveyor's role is over.

Sampling Control.
Holes falling inside the ore boundaries will be numbered and sorted to your specifications. An output file is created containing sample numbers and coordinates. This can be uploaded into the assay data base and also uploaded into the surveyor's total station for markout in the field. Samples are turned over quicker. There is no need for a survey pickup if done the QuikBlast way.

Blast Control.
Try various patterns or dimensions to get the ultimate design. Know the exact number of ore and waste holes in the pattern. Control the location of the pattern. Edit lines and holes. Add presplit lines. Plot it all up for your records.

Mine Planning.
A very handy tool is included which can save your operation thousands of dollars in unnecessary drilling. By including the design flitch files for your pit, the drill pattern will not extend beyond it. We call this the pit design watchdog.

Mine Safety.
Successive benches can be set up to ensure that hole positions differ from one bench to the preceding bench under it. This will eliminate drilling into the old butts of the preceding bench.

Use any burden direction.
Do you have a problem where the ore body strikes at a radical angle to the mine grid? Any number of pattern rotations can be used on one site. All coordinates in and out of the system will be in mine grid. Thus a multitude of hidden rotated grids can be used for geology and blasting purposes, where ore body strike lines are inconsistent. All coordinates will remain in one grid system - the mine grid.

Data Compatibility.
Surpac and Minemap file formats are available at present. Boundary string files and sample data string files can be read and written.
