These are not so much rules as stuff I have learned. Stick to these rules and you *should* be safe.
A Manual is NEVER complete.
Manuals will tell you everything you need to know to do something, but not how to handle every situation. A good case in point is the notes for the Squadron Leaders Course.
Cover Your BACKSIDE!
If you must say something about someone, make sure you have evidence to prove it!
Justice in the EH is swift.
If you have done something wrong, you WILL be told about it very quickly. A good rule of thumb is if you haven't heard anything in 3 to 4 days, you are safe.
Bad Language (swearing) is never tolerated.
This is a bit of a strange one. It is universally accepted that the "F" word and the "C" word are NOT to be used at any time, but what about other words, such as bitch, bastard etc? Used the right (wrong?) way these can be very offensive.
Be careful what you say!!!
The Emperor's Hammer is a multilingual on line community, with many different people from many different places in it. What we write in our e-mails and other places MAY be misunderstood, so make it as clear as possible.
Loyalty runs BOTH ways.
If you want your pilots/friends etc to be loyal to you, you need to be loyal to them too.
What goes around, comes around.
NEVER make a promise when it depends on what someone else says/does.
It's easy to say, "I promise I will.....".
Don't do it unless you are absolutely sure you will be able to do it and if for some reason you can't, apologize as soon as possible!
Treat people the way YOU want to be treated.
If you treat someone like a bag of dirt, they are very likely to treat you the same way.
What YOU do and say reflects on your friends / Squadron / Wing.
This isn't an easy one.
In Real Life, I've been told that people form an opinion of each other in the first 10 secs (mins?) that they meet.
In the case of the EH though, it's not so simple. We are dependant upon the written word for all communication. People we 'meet' in chat rooms, via e-mail etc use what we write to form an idea of what we are like.
