Blue Mountains Field Trip—Monday 29 September 2008 The first field trip depart Sydney early in the morning and heads west towards the Blue Mountains and the Mount Tomah Botanic Gardens. In the morning the group will head towards local sites in the Blue Mountains where native species of carnivorous plants such as Drosera peltata, auriculata, binata, spathulata, pygmaea, Utricularia uniflora and dichotoma may be seen in their natural habitat. At lunch time the group will head toward the Mount Tomah Botanic Gardens, the cold climate arm of the Botanic Garden Trust. A bog garden was created in 2004 with assistance from the Australasian Carnivorous Plant Society which showcases a hanging swamp as can be found in the local area but also includes a carnivorous plant section where Sarracenia, Dionea, Drosera and Utricularia have been planted out. There will also be a chance to take in the expansive views over the mountains and look around the other features of the garden. The cost of the Blue Mountains Field Trip is AU$45.00 per person and includes transport costs and garden entry. _____________________________________________________________________________
