It was a dark and stormy night, but the good folk at Ly'Oira were nonplussed for they were gathered around the 'Ultimate' wood fire.
Lyd'Oira is a charming little cottage in the hamlet of Wheatsheaf on the fingertips of Daylesford, an easy 90 minute drive from Melbourne's East.
Nestled on 5 acres of native bush on the fringe of the Wombat State forest it boasts a large living/relaxation area with panoramic views over the dam (when it rains).
Visitors can sit on the balcony and listen the birdlife and sounds of Australiana as they sip their chardonnay and read books or simply enjoy the sunshine and clean air. Alternatively, soak up the atmosphere as you snooze in one of the comfy hammocks.
As time and a half goes by and hunger sets in, Lyd'Oira offers a fully self-contained kitchen/dining area, whilst for those not wishing to exert themselves in culinary pursuits are spoilt for choice with neighbouring towns and villages like Daylesford, Hepburn Springs, Trentham and Castlemaine just to mention a few.
HEY!! You could even fire up the wood fired Pizza Oven out in front!!
And it's not likely to be a dry argument either, with scores of wineries in the immediate surrounds allowing visitors to pick up their favourite tipple before returning to that wonderful 'Ultimate' fireplace and finally retiring to their Queen size ensemble for a well earned rest.
Those who come to visit aren't forgotten either, with the two settees converting to Futon style sleeping the Japanese have been enjoying for centuries, negating the anti social risks of drinking and driving.
