TP225 - Multi-Piano Roger Dean
It's a rare thing to be able to showcase a performer's work over a forty-year period. This 2-CD set does just that. Roger Dean has had a serious career in improvisation, ranging from his performances over that time to his books written on the subject. This pair of CDs contains some of his best work since 1978 on his main instrument, the piano. The music shows the depth and breadth of his musical interests, and the skill he brings to performing. One can also see how he has re-invented himself musically over that period, during which he has also re-invented his professional working life, from running a heart research institute, to becoming a university vice-chancellor, to his current university research.

TP222 - Blue Silence David Pereira (cello), Timothy Young (piano)
This is the first disc of its kind to be released in Australia - an overview of important works written for cello and piano, spanning 108 years. The earliest work is the Grainger Scandinavian Suite, a tour de force for both performers and a work that deserves a place in the concert hall. Other heritage masterpieces include Ian Farr's Sonata, a work which repays the time spent to becoming acquainted with it, and neglected since its initial performances, and Don Banks' seminal Three Studies.

TP221 - Six Fish Guitar Trek
Guitar Trek started out in 1987 and broke new ground for the guitar, with their special 'family' of standard guitars by Greg Smallman, treble guitars by Eugene Philp and Greg Smallman, and baritone and bass guitars by Graham Caldersmith. This CD presents works by four composers who have featured in many of their concert programmes.

TP219 - Romantic Rarities Ian Holtham (piano)
Ian Holtham is a distinguished Melbourne-based pianist with an extensive discography of Classical and Romantic music to his credit, especially including the music of Chopin. In this, his first release for Tall Poppies, he has chosen a program of relatively rare works from the piano repertoire.

TP218 - Osanna
Choral Music by Clare Maclean
Sydney Chamber Choir
Paul Stanhope (conductor)
Tall Poppies is delighted to present a second disc of Clare Maclean's choral music. Clare is one of few Australian composers creating an oeuvre of a cappella choral music, mostly inspired by her deep religious beliefs. Her music is always accessible with its exquisite harmonies and clarity in illuminating her texts. Her deep understanding of what choirs like to sing comes from her years as a member of the Sydney Chamber Choir.

TP217 - Ensemble Liaison Svetlana Bogosavljevic (cello)
David Griffiths (clarinet)
Timothy Young (piano)
This CD contains the two major chamber works for this instrumental combination: the youthful Beethoven Trio, written when he was just 27; the late Brahms Trio, written for clarinettist Richard Muhlfield whose inspired playing brought Brahms out of retirement and to conclude the recital the beautiful and harmonically daring Eight Pieces by Bruch.

TP216 - Joseph Haydn
Complete Keyboard Sonatas, Vol. 3
Geoffrey Lancaster (fortepiano)
Tall Poppies and fortepianist Geoffrey Lancaster continue to journey through Joseph Haydn's complete keyboard sonatas. Lancaster presented the complete cycle of 52 sonatas in concert in Melbourne, Perth and Canberra to mark the Haydn Bicentenary in 2009. He has recently presented excerpts in Sydney and London, and has been recording the works using period instruments from the unique collection of early keyboards at the ANU School of Music, at which he is professor of music. Critically acclaimed as 'a genius of the fortepiano', Dr Lancaster is one of Australia's most distinguished keyboardists and was the first Australian to win a major international keyboard competition.

TP215 - Flash: Miniatures for Marimba Claire Edwardes (marimba)
Flash is Claire's 2nd recording for Tall Poppies - a charming compilation of miniatures for the marimba. Inspired by her formative musical years as a pianist and her two young daughters, Claire has chosen a program of new and transcribed gems for the mellow sonorities of the grand five octave marimba. The Australian works have, in the most part, been written especially for the project, and these sit cheek-by-jowl with transcriptions of well-known children's piano pieces by Bach, Bart—k, Corea, Kabalevsky, Schumann and Tchaikovsky.

TP214 - Barber & Debussy David Berlin (cello)
Len Vorster (piano)
Tall Poppies is proud to release David Berlin's debut recital CD, featuring some of the gems of 20th century cello repertoire. The Barber and Debussy sonatas are among the masterpieces for the instrument and the Bloch, Falla and Granados works are universal favourites in cello recitals.
