2004 Ride
Graham Felton and John Sinclair will lead the 75th Anniversary ride of great pioneers, Jack Bowers and Frank Smith, who rode a Harley Davidson motorcycle and side-box around Australia in 1929.
In 2008 Graham and John will once again lead a ride around Australia to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of there epic ride around Australia on a 1942 UL Model Harley Davidson with a side box. See here for more details.
The 2004 ride will follow the route and dates of the record breaking 1929 ride. It will also celebrate 101 years of the Harley Davidson Motorcycle and raise funds for the Ageing and Alzheimer's Research Foundation (AARF).
The ride will commence in Sydney on July 4, 2004 and finish in Sydney on September 21, 2004 (World Alzheimer's Day). All mainland state and territory capital cities will be visited (as per map) and the trip will include some off-bitumen riding (1600 kms).
It is a ride to recognise the achievement of Bowers and Smith and the Harley Davidson motorcycles as depicted in the book, "Around Australia the Hard Way in 1929" by Jack Bowers. The ride will help to raise much needed research funds for dementia, which is looming health dilemma for our ageing population.
To help celebrate this significant anniversary, all motorcyclists are invited, and welcome to join them for all, or part of the ride. Graham and John will this time ride a 1940 U model Flathead with a side-box.
This trip would not be possible without all of the sponsors,
