75th Anniversary Ride

Anniversary ride itinerary

To accurately reproduce the original journey by Jack Bowers and Frank Smith the dates and route will be closely followed some 75 years later. The trip will start in Sydney on Sunday the 4th of July 2004, and consist of seven different legs.

The first leg (Sydney to Brisbane) will travel via Wisemans Ferry, Tamworth and Tenterfield. This leg Leaves Sydney on Saturday 4th July and finishes in Brisbane on Saturday 10th of July.

The second leg (Brisbane to Darwin) will travel via Toowoomba, Roma, Charleville, Barcaldine, Longreach, Cloncurry, Mt Isa, Katherine and Batchelor. This leg leaves Brisbane on Saturday 10th of July and finishes in Darwin on Saturday 31st July.

The third leg (Darwin to Broome) will travel via Kakadu National Park, Katherine, Top Springs, Kalkarindji, Old Halls Creek and Derby. This leg leaves Darwin on Wednesday 4th August and finishes in Broome on Tuesday 17th August.

The fourth leg (Broome to Perth) will travel via Port Hedland, Marble Bar, Newman, Mt Magnet and Wourie Pool. This leg leaves Broome on Friday 20th August finishing in Perth on Saturday 28th of August.

The fifth leg (Perth to Adelaide) will travel via Kalgoorlie, Norseman, Nullarbor, Mt Ive and Port Augusta. This leg leaves Perth on Wednesday 1st September finishing in Adelaide on Saturday the 11th of September.

The sixth leg (Adelaide to Melbourne) will travel via Mt Gambier, Warrnambool and Geelong. This leg leaves Adelaide on Tuesday 14th September finishing in Melbourne on Saturday 18th September.

The final leg (Melbourne to Sydney) will travel via Albury and Camden. This leg leaves Melbourne on Sunday 19th September finishing in Sydney on Tuesday the 21st of September.
