About
Back in 1958 Graham and John "Sassy" rode an old 1942 UL model Harley Davidson around Australia. They left on boxing day 1957 for what would become the summer holiday of a lifetime. The pair travelled up the old pacific highway and then cut inland though Queensland. Making it up to Darwin before they caught the Ghan down from Alice springs to Leigh Creek due to the road conditions. From there the pair travelled down through Adelaide, Melbourne and back up to Sydney. Returning 6 weeks later.
After some years, the pair went their separate ways. Back in 2003, Graham tracked John "Sassy" down after about 30 years. The pair immediately struck up the friendship that mates have. Graham purchased a 1940 U Model and named her "Elvie" (named after Graham's late mother) in late 2003. Then in 2004 they completed the Anniversary Ride which circumnavigated Australia raising in excess of $35,000 for Ageing and Alzheimer's Research Foundation.
The pair are at it again (possibly for the last time). With a combined age (including the bikes) of 267 years they are heading off around Australia again in 2008. The ride will cover 11,407 Klms and they are hoping to raise at least $2.00 per Kilometer for Aging and Alzheimer's Research Foundation again.
