466 Squadron Photos 2

The photos on this page are courtesy of Glenn Chapman. Glenn's grandfather F/O Douglas Birrell, served with 466 and was the navigator on his crew lead by F/O Anderson. Douglas Birrell served on Halifax's "Z for Zola", "X - Xenia" and "Y - Yolanda  Again". The following photos and information are from Douglas's collection.  Glenn has provided me with information pertaining to each photo from his grandfather's collection which are included with each thumbnail.    At the bottom of this page is Glenn's email address. This photo is of Glenn's grandfather, Douglas Birrell, in front of one of the three Halifax's he flew on. This photo is of "Z for Zola" and is in 1944, a few months after he joined the squadron after being a bomb aimer/observor/navigator in Hudson bombers in Australia.

Recently I was contacted by John Walker who got a surprise to see his house in the above picture. John has been kind enough to allow us to display photos of the house as it is today. Enjoy.
