AIDAN'S DIARY - MAY 2000

1-May-2000 to 3-May-2000
Aidan and Trish head into PMH for another bout of chemo. The Wiggles stop by to perform a show and Aidan gets up close and personal. He was so happy with the encounter and told everybody within earshot. Guy McKenna and Scott Cummings from the West Coast Eagles football team also stopped by to show Aidan the correct football pose.

If you're not already aware, the best place to pickup an illnesss is a hospital. And so it was that Aidan collected a para-influenza virus followed by one or more viral and or bacterial infections. Aidan, Mum and I were in and out of the hospital every other days. We saw a lot of the Northbridge Tunnel, but after being a regular commuter of the Eisenhower Tunnel along I-70 in Colorado, it's just not in the running. There's no mountains.

Mother's Day
Aidan's is discharged from hospital again. Dad and crew from the Xpedior rowing team take 2nd place in the Western Australian Rowling Club's (WARC) Somerset Cup ... many blisters. Spend the afternoon with Trish's Nanna and Mum and evening with my Mum. A long day.

Took Aidan bike shopping, courtesy of Grandad Michael. Luck was with us this time; we bought the first one we found.
Aidan rode the bike from the shop, through the mall, across the car park and to the car. We think he approved of the purchase. [PHOTOS PENDING]

Important stuff. Took Aidan for a BIG ride to Nanna's house for lunch. Well, a few blocks is BIG when your legs are small.
He was quite the tired chappy upon arrival. [PHOTOS PENDING]

Trish and Aunty Flo shepherd Aidan to another MRI. Of course the results will be good.

Wake up to discover that Caitlin is in my bed. Aidan had a raging temperature during the night (again) and Trish fled with him to the hospital during the early hours. As per normal, his temperature came down again at hospital. Why can't he pretend home is hospital and keep the temperature down ? A mystery.

SOME GOOD NEWS
The results are in from the MRI. All good. There were no visible sign of the tumour in Aidan's fourth ventricle. That doesn't mean all cancer cells have been eliminated, but does mean treatment is on the right track and, hopefully, good things will come.
