AIDAN'S DIARY - OCTOBER 2000

18 October 2000
Where did the past year go ? It went vwhooom. On this day last year I had the unsettling task of lugging an almost unconscious Aidan to the local GP for a shot of penicillin. Today was far more relaxed ... Aidan was able to stay awake to blow out the candles on my birthday cake. Hip, hip ... hooray.

Trish took Liam and Evan for their first official picture. Here is the result ...

Aidan's temperature hit a high note and he spent the night at PMH with Aunty Flo.

I never would have thought blood transfusions were commonplace. Aidan goes the extra distance to prove that is not the case. He spent the latter part of the morning and early afternoon receiving a top up on the blood front. In the afternoon we caught the tail end of a Telethon concert in the Starlight room. For those readers outside Western Australia, Telethon is an annual fund raising exercise hosted by TVW 7, one of the local television stations. The proceeds go to PMH for equipment and other amenities.
One of the PMH public relastions people at PMH thought Aidan was rather cute and hoisted him over for a photo with Martin Sacks, an actor who appears in the TV police drame, Blue Heelers. The photo will appear in next week's paper.

Aidan made a grand appearance in today's West Australian newspaper. See below.

Where did the year go ? According to Mandy, Brian's mum, it went "voom, like a rat out of an aquaduct". On this day last year Aidan was diagnosed with a potential medulloblastoma and ushered unto Princess Margaret Hospital for Children (PMH). It was a very long night for everybody at PMH.

28 October 2000 & 29 October 2000
Had a short holiday with Aidan at PMH to sort out an earache and raging temperature. Also managed to take the young man for a bit of window shopping in the city; I haven't taken him to the city since before he was diagnosed last year.
