Aidan has discovered the Australian
Broadcasting Commission's website for children.
Here is his first masterpiece from their colouring game. He is counting
the sleeps until his birthday this coming Thursday.

Mum took Aidan for another visit to the opthalmologist (eye doctor)
to test the squint in his left eye caused by the tumour or the brain surgery
to remove it. It is quite possible the little guy will undergo corrective
surgery in the near future.

The little guy clocked over the big 6 today. He staggered into our
room early in the morning to commence the unwrapping ceremony and was moderately
pleased with the offerings. That was followed by a small party at school
with scrummy cupcakes baked by Mum. We rounded off the day with a gathering
of family to celebrate another year, offer gifts and eat cake. This year
we had a guest appearance from my Uncle Bob and Aunty Mary from Brisbane,
Queensland.
We are steeling ourselves for the kids party this weekend which will
be anything but quiet.

A handful of Aidan's school friends laid siege to our humble castle.
They did lots of kids things which made for an interesting afternoon. For
a little variety the little people played pin the tail on pikachu. Aidan
has been keen on the Power
Rangers for some time and so it was the birthday cake featured many
power rangers. A good day for all.

A follow up MRI for Aidan to learn more about the something
located last month.

To keep us on our toes, Aidan's temperature spiked. He spent the night
under observation at PMH.

Aidan, Caitlin, Trish, Liam, Evan and I attended Aunty Liz and Uncle
Neil's wedding.

Trish spoke with Aidan's oncologist, Dr. David Baker. The MRI results
are not good, with a suspected secondary tumour in the caudate
nucleus. More on this as it comes to hand.

Trish and I discussed Aidan's recent MRI scans with his neurosurgeon
Mr. George Wong who also suspected a secondary tumour. Our options are
few and far between. Operate or not operate. We already know what happens
when tumours grow. Aidan joined us for the visit, but kept his distance,
remembering very well that his last encounter with Mr. Wong resulted in
surgery. We also discussed matters with Dr. Baker again. The road ahead
is unknown.

A follow up discussion with Mr. Wong to discuss surgery again. When
we informed him of our decision to proceed with surgery he booked Aidan
into theatre almost immediately. Given Mr. Wong's urgency there can be
little doubt that his suspicions about another tumour are probably sound.

One of my old work buddies, Ian, and his lady Nina volunteered to stand
vigil over the twins. We took the opportunity to walk amidst the fish at
the Aquarium of Western Australia
(formerly Underwater World). Sadly, the three captive dolphins had died
since our last visit (many moons ago). We did however enjoy the company
of several seals who splished and splashed for the sake of a fish snack.
The venue also features a "touch pool" where small children can terrorize
starfish and manta rays and become rather wet in the process.
