AIDAN'S DIARY - JUNE 2003

13 June 2003
The second and final fun-raising venture for Aidan's memorial stone chair at Walliston Primary, an after school discotheque, was a resounding success, with proceeds sufficient to cover all costs.
The first event, some weeks ago, was a colourful hair day when students had the opportunity to spray their hair in all the colours of the rainbow, if they so choose. It just so happens that a certain father appeared at the office on that day with blue hair. A good colour is blue and more than satisfactory to meet any corporate's dress standards.
A local stonemason will commence work very soon on creating a bench for the little people that will be located outside his (and now Caitlin's) class room.
More news on this as it comes to hand.

Weeks will pass without comment by Caitlin on Aidan, then from out of the blue she will remark upon some facet of her life in a most unexpected manner. Such was the case today, following the school assembly, when she wrote a short letter remarking, "I wish Aidan didn't die.I love him too much". On the opposite side of the page was a picture showing her with Aidan as she thought it must have been when we lived in Denver.
She misses her big brother and I'm sure will do for a very long time. When your solar system loses it's sun, your planet becomes very dark. Hers was not the only planet to become dark.
In previous weeks, Caitlin has told Trish that she would like to be ballerina, if she grows up. She already knows there are no guarantees that she will become a "big person". We certainly cannot assure such things, but it's sad for somebody so small and young to worry about such big questions when there are more important things to be doing, like being a little person.

Work commenced on Aidan's seat today. Caitlin was quietly exuberant about the news. Her class kept an eye on the stonemasons throughout the day from their window.

Work on Aidan's stone seat is well underway. It could be finished in the next day or two, rain permitting.

Aidan's seat ... a work in progress.

25 June 2003
The chief stonemason, Ray, advised us that Aidan's seat is finished, but it was too wet and blustery to capture any new photos.
