AIDAN'S DIARY - JULY 2003

1 July 2003
Aidan's Seat was officially unveiled this morning by Caitlin with the entire school in attendance. John Paton, the school principal dedicated the work to our brave little hero and a friend to so many. The children were climbing over the seat only minutes after dismissal ... Aidan would have been pleased.
The attention and memories were a bit much for Caitlin who assumed an erstwhile demure posture during proceedings, but was upset as the day drew to a close. A stone seat is no replacement for your big brother, especially when it was Aidan.
Our thanks to the school for organising fundraising ventures, the children and parents for their support and Ray Lenoir and his associate, the stonemasons, for taking a concept to fruition in grand style. Thanks also to Trevor for proposing the idea via the Levy Team, Martin and Liz.

The Quality Campers of Camp Quality dragged us away from the daily grind to join a handful of other families who had also lost a special little person. It was a time for eating, reverie and, apparently, more eating. In between eating we took in a few of the local sights and ... ate some more.
Our thanks to the Star Campers and attendees for good cheer, despite the torrential downpours.

Yes, that's a LOT of chocolate.

One of Aidan's friends from the hospital and Camp Quality cluster events wrote a special letter in November to say goodbye. It is very much worth sharing.

The Good Times

Remember the time when we rode the three horses, the one with the cowboy hat,
the red Indian with the hand prints on his back and the really big one that was a unicorn cross fairy.

Remember when we collected shells on the beach shore, we got big ones, small ones, all different ones.

When you played your pretend guitar on stage everybody loved it and clapped and cheered.

Remember in the hospital how we made the pretend boats.

Remember when we played tea parties with our bears.

Remember when we had so much fun playing all day.

Love from Deja

Aidan's memorial plaque arrived at Pinnaroo during the week. The winter rain kept at bay long enough for us to sit, ponder a shed a tear or three.
