AIDAN'S DIARY - OCTOBER 2003
Just like Aidan, Caitlin placed a request for a "Wish Trip" to Queensland. While it's a bit tricky explaining to a 6 year old that only some children have wish trips, namely very sick ones, we acquiesced to her request.
Retracing some our footsteps from previous visits in 1999 and 2002, we found our way back to the theme parks, the tacky neon and highrise apartments which demarcate Surfer's Paradise and the splendid rain forests north and west of Brisbane.
The first few days were spent amidst an international TaeKwon-Do tournament, featuring some of our instructors and classmates from our days of kicking about in Denver, Colorado. Caitlin remembers none of these people, as she was only the size of a toiletry bag when we returned to Perth.
Caitlin's main objective was, of course, to raid the theme park shops and collect all the knick-knacks she didn't acquire last time. And raid them she did. She did however manage to see some sights and hold onto the rails of a rocking boat as pod after pod of humpback whales frolicked in Moreton Bay.
