"Fling" are well regarded as one of Australia's finest Celtic and original bands. It is a reputation which they have built up in the eleven years they have been playing together and has taken them to every major festival in Australia as well as tours to Europe and Asia.

One feature "Fling" are particularly renowned for is their presentation of Irish traditional and original dance music which is largely due to the musical excellence of the "tunes" section of the band. With Suzanne Harris on fiddle and Ormonde Waters on concertina, uilleann pipes, Highland bagpipes and whistles, there is a fascinating variety of sounds from instruments rarely seen and even more rarely played so well.

They have a strong focus on original material including both songs and tunes. Songwriter David B. Johnson captures the contemporary Australian experience and his songs are much-requested wherever the band performs. These are complemented by the mixture of traditional and contemporary Irish songs, all the way up to modern classics which while not even remotely Celtic, are given that special "Fling" treatment which makes them feel right at home in the repertoire.

Laying the rhythmic foundation are Graeme Bell on bass, John Reed on cittern and Reuben Kooperman on drums who together bring out the subtleties and power inherent in the music of the "Fling".

"Fling" have released two CDs to date which have seen them become one of the biggest selling unsigned independent acts in Australia. They have also appeared by invitation on three compilation CDs.
