Traditional Irish
There are a couple of "bonus" verses thrown in here which the
band does't normally sing
There were three auld gypsies came to our hall door
They came brave and boldly-o
Well there's one sang high, and the other sang low
And the lady sang the raggle taggle gypsy-o
Well it was upstairs and downstairs the lady went
Put on her suit of leather-o
It was the cry all around her door
"She's away with the raggle taggle gypsy-o"
Well it was late that night that the lord came in
Enquiring for his lady-o
The servant girls replied to him all
"She's away with the raggle taggle gypsy-o"
Oh saddle for me my milk white steed
The big horse is not speedy-o
And I will ride and I'll seek my bride
Who's run away with the raggle taggle gypsy-o
Then he rode east, and he rode west
He rode north and south also
But when he came to the wide open field
It was there he spied his lady-o
Yerra why did you leave your house and your land
Why did you leave you money-o
Yerra why did you leave your only wedded lord
All for the raggle taggle gypsy-o
Yerra what do I care for my house or my land
What do I care for money-o
Yerra what do I care for my only wedded lord
I'm away with the raggle taggle gypsy-o
Well it was there last night you'd a goose feather bed
With blankets drawn so comely-o
Tonight you'll lie in the wide open field
In the arms of your raggle taggle gypsy-o
Yerra what do I care for a goose feather bed
With blankets drawn so comely-o
Tonight I'll lie in the wide open field
In the arms of my raggle taggle gypsy-o
For you rode east, and I rode west
You rode high, and I rode low
I rather have a kiss of the yellow gypsy's lips
Than all your cash and money-o
