As most Martial Arts, Judo is a sport with many rules. They mainly fall in
two categories:

Our rules and regulations are there to ensure that every player can practise
the wonderful sport of Judo in a safe and enjoyable environment. We ask that
you respect these "common sense" rules, after all, they are there to help
you.
Safety
-
Rule Number One: Listen, Listen, Listen.
Yes, it is that simple.... always listen to the teacher and do what he/she
says, the moment he/she says it. It is when you don't listen that accidents
may happen.
-
NEVER EVER practise
Judo on anybody outside class !!
-
No
jewellery is to be worn at judo during training, including earrings.
-
Judo is Duo, meaning that you practise it
together. Look after yourself and your buddy.
-
No hard objects are to be worn at any time.
This includes personal protection gear. Also, please
ensure that hair ties do not contain any metal parts that may
cause injuries.
Before and during training
-
Please be prompt for the start of class
as coming late is disruptive to the other players, as well as to prevent serious injuries.
Training
is made up of different phases with the most important being the warming-up and
stretching exercises at the beginning of class (presented in different forms
of play). Both of these are essential to attend.
-
Children are not
allowed to leave the room during the training, unless accompanied by an
adult. If you need to take your child out of the training room (even for a
brief period), please inform the coach.
-
Some of our younger
judokas (players) will need their parents to be around during class, for
instance for help with going to the toilet. Please stay if your child
needs additional help during class.
-
Please ensure that
you always bring a drink bottle into class.
-
Do not leave any
belongings unattended outside the dojo (training room). Please bring any
shoes, bags, and other belonging into the dojo with you.
Hygiene
-
No
shoes on the mat (training room) at any time. (Please leave your shoes outside of the
mat area)
-
Please
ensure that hands and feet are clean before entering the mat. Nails (hands
and feet) need to be trimmed. Socks may be worn for medical reasons only.
-
Judo-gi (the judo suit) needs to be clean. We recommend washing after
every training.
-
Always
wear slippers or shoes when coming to class, even if only coming from the
car.
-
Long hair needs to be tied back. Hair pins are
not permitted.
Some other information
-
Parents are
welcome to stay and observe. Please note that some children are more easily distracted and may feel increased pressure to
perform when their parents are constantly observing them. We trust your
individual judgement in this matter.
-
Please note
that the doors to the dojo will be closed when the air-conditioning is switched on. Please
be careful opening the doors as somebody may be behind.
