I've gone back through all the previous levels and linked up everything to my satisfaction. The only outstanding problem with the earlier levels is where I haven't distinguished between weapons and ammo after collecting a weapon for the first time. Please let me know if I've stuffed up any links.
Several statistical notes have been updated completely to the point I am at in the walkthrough, and it is a relief. Now I only have to fix errors and broken links when discovered and add new material as I come across it in the walkthrough.
Tomorrow I start Level 17: Delta Labs Level 2B with a clear mind.
See Tim's Doom 3 Page.
Haze has kicked off the u cyle again with a bang - MAME 0.87u1. A real mixed bag of changes this time around - read the whatsnew.txt for a complete list of changes in 87u1. The big news is the Model 2 driver.
I've updated the Infos: CHD, Baddumps, Nodumps, BIOS's. There are no new CHD's this time around. The Baddump + Nodump total is 157 + 178 = 335, no change to baddumps and no changes to nodumps from MAME 0.87. See Tim's Emulation Page.
I've completed the first draft of 16: Delta Labs Level 2A, 11 levels to go. Finally got the BFG 9000 and it feels good.
I'm now onto level 17: Delta Labs Level 2B.
Statistical notes have been updated.
See Tim's Doom 3 Page.
Yay, a new MAME release. Head over to the Official MAME Site and get the release appropriate for your hardware. Read the whatsnew.txt for a complete list of changes in 87. The change I'm most excited about is the improvement in the SPI/Hyperstone core. Raiden Fighters is looking much better now. Still a long way to go but the hard work by the MAME Dev's is showing rewards.
I've updated the Infos: CHD, Baddumps, Nodumps, BIOS's. There are no new CHD's this time around. The Baddump + Nodump total is 157 + 178 = 335, no change to baddumps and nodumps up by 2 from MAME 0.86u5. See Tim's Emulation Page.
I've completed the first draft of 15: Delta Labs Level 1, 12 levels to go. An enjoyable level, you get to meet the Chaingun Zombie for the first time - ouch.
I'm now onto level 16: Delta Labs Level 2A.
Statistical notes have been updated. I've caught up with:
- All video disk transcriptions to date
- Linked the PDA page to every walkthrough page
- Linked the Intro's page to every walkthrough page
There are still many connections to establish but it's coming along nicely.
See Tim's Doom 3 Page.
I've finished Delta Labs Level 1 but haven't transcribed all my notes to HTML yet. I've also caught up with the audio logs for all the charactes up to this point in the game. They have not all been linked back to the walkthrough yet though. All things in good time.
See Tim's Doom 3 Page.
This is the largest Mersenne I've attempted so far. Primenet has now assigned M23083531, a fairly small number for testing, it is smaller than the largest known Mersenne prime.
See Tim's GIMPS Page.
Haze has put together a modest release this time - MAME 0.86u5. Read the whatsnew.txt for a complete list of changes in 86u5.
I've updated the Infos: CHD, Baddumps, Nodumps, BIOS's. There are no new CHD's this time around. The Baddump + Nodump total is 157 + 176 = 333, no change to baddumps and no change to nodumps from MAME 0.86u4. See Tim's Emulation Page.
Batten down the hatches and buy some disk, the CHD's keep rolling in. I don't know where they've been coming from but here's the new batch:
- konam80s.chd - Konami's 80's Arcade
- fbaitusa.chd - Fisherman's Bait
- fbait2.chd - Fisherman's Bait 2
With these latest additions MAME currently has 57 CHD's games in 47 CHD files and 8 CHD waiting to become official.
I have now added all the details for the new CHD btchamp.chd doing the rounds. Seems to be no let up in the CHD domain.
With the addition of btchamp.chd, there are 5 CHD sooners commonly available. MAME currently has 57 CHD's games in 47 CHD files and 5 CHD waiting to become official.
I've linked up all of level 1 Mars City to the new pages just to see what it looks like. It's an improvement. Several character transcripts have been added as well as a couple of audio log and video disk narratives. Intro Texts have been added as well. There is a lot of new content and several small corrections.
I've also HTML'ised several new sections. I think I'm almost done with the new shell. This baby is cross referenced like a bastard. Maybe I can actually get some actual gameplay going in the next couple of days - Delta Labs is still beckoning to me.
See Tim's Doom 3 Page.
The Missions And Objectives page is now up. Complete up to the start of Delta Labs. The text for the Betruger vs Elliot cutscene in Mars City: Conference Room has been added.
See Tim's Doom 3 Page.
Haze has put together a 'mixed bag' MAME 0.86u4. Read the whatsnew.txt for a complete list of changes in 86u4. A crucial fix has had the "Sonic the Hedgehog" renamed to "Sonic The Hedgehog". The "The" is Sonic's middle name! Sega's marketing people are crazy!
I've updated the Infos: CHD, Baddumps, Nodumps, BIOS's. There are no new CHD's this time around. The Baddump + Nodump total is 157 + 176 = 333, baddumps down by 1 and no change to nodumps from MAME 0.86u3. See Tim's Emulation Page.
There's still no end to the linking that needs to be done. I've added the Codes page and have linked everything back to the walkthrough from all the relevant Game Paraphenelia pages. I've even added the text for IPN News to the Video Disks section - it was fun listening to that again and again ...
See Tim's Doom 3 Page.
I've spent the last 3 days trying to turn all of my game information tables for Doom 3 into HTML. This is a huge job, and one I'm not very proficient at. I've not been able to play any Doom 3 because of the concentration and effort it has taken :-(
It's become clear to me that my walkthrough is getting a bit cluttered so I've started moving some information to other pages and providing links instead. This is designed to be a happy medium for both those who want to see the detail and those who just want the bare facts.
The good news is that I've managed to HTML'ise quite a bit. I'm still leaving my non HTML tables around because they are useful too. The following sections have been added, some of them are only shells, others have significant content:
- Personal Data Assistants
- Emails
- Audio Logs
- Video Disks
- Other Information (Characters, Tips, Information Terminals, Cutscenes, Incoming Communications
The plan is now to continue with the walkthrough and establish the links between pages in the next cycle in a month or so. Otherwise I'll never finish this game.
I'm now commencing level 15: Delta Labs Level 1 - and this time I mean it.
Statistical notes have been MAJORLY updated.
See Tim's Doom 3 Page.
I have now added all the details for the 2 new MAME CHD's doing the rounds. There's been a lot of movement in the CHD domain of late, resulting in a lot of data movement by those diehard completists out there :-)
With the addition of guantdl.chd and ppp2nd.chd there are now 4 CHD sooners that are commonly available. MAME currently has 57 CHD's games in 47 CHD files and 4 CHD sooners waiting patiently on the shelf. And it's growing day by day ...
I heard on the MAME grapevine that there are two new CHD sooners doing the rounds. They are:
- Gauntlet Dark Legacy - gauntdl.chd - 1650983695 bytes
- Para Para Paradise 2nd mix - ppp2nd.chd - 384987273 bytes
Here is some information from KLOV about Midway's Gauntlet Dark Legacy.
Here's some information from System 16 about Para Para Paradise.
Petr1fied has sent me all the CHD information for these CHD's. I will compile the information into my table in the next couple of days.
I've completed the first draft of Level 14: Monorail, 13 levels to go. Yay, I've reached the halfway point of the game. A good level, you get to ride the monorail and you meet the Commando Zombie for the first time.
I'm now onto level 15: Delta Labs Level 1.
Statistical notes have been updated.
See Tim's Doom 3 Page.
I've completed the first draft of Level 13: Recycling Sector 2, 14 levels to go. This was a great level. You meet the Cherub for the first time. But later you tussle with your first Mancubus who steals the show. I'm now onto level 14: Monorail.
Statistical notes have been updated.
See Tim's Doom 3 Page.
Haze has put together an incremental release MAME 0.86u3. He has also supplied serveral hacks and reported some bad news on NMK sound MCU's that are read protected and can't be dumped. Read the whatsnew.txt for a complete list of changes in 86u3.
The CPS3 CD images have been converted to MAME's CHD format. This means that there are now 57 CHD games in MAME as of 86u3 made up of 47 CHD files. CPS3 emulation is not likely so don't get your hopes up that they will be needed anytime soon. The new images are:
- jojo.chd
- jojoba.chd
- sfiii.chd
- sfiii2.chd
- sfiii3.chd
- warzard.chd
I've updated the Infos: CHD, Baddumps, Nodumps, BIOS's. There are 6 new CHD's this time around. The Baddump + Nodump total is 158 + 176 = 334, no change to baddumps and no change to nodumps from MAME 0.86u2. See Tim's Emulation Page.
Haze has put together an incremental release MAME 0.86u2. The HyperNeogeo64 emulation is coming along nicely. Read the whatsnew.txt for a complete list of changes.
I've updated the Infos: CHD, Baddumps, Nodumps, BIOS's. No changes to CHD's this time around. The Baddump + Nodump total is 158 + 176 = 334, no change to baddumps and nodumps down by 1 from MAME 0.86u1. See Tim's Emulation Page.
I've completed the first draft of Level 12: Monorail Skybridge, 15 levels to go. I didn't enjoy this level that much despite meeting the Revenant for the first time and finding my first Rocket Launcher. Basically there are too many bugs in the level - in fact I added a Doom 3 bugs section because of it. I'm now onto level 13: Recycling Sector 2.
Statistical notes have been updated. I've added a bugs section and a section for when you get to use your sentry bot.
See Tim's Doom 3 Page.
