In the CHD world, when it rains, it pours! The following CHD sooners have surfaced:
- ddr3rdmix\ddr3rdmx.chd (112596313 bytes)
- ddr15\ddr845ua02.chd (290797158 bytes)
- ddrs2k\ddrs2k.chd (128402049 bytes)
- ddrusa\ddrusa.chd (66728844 bytes)
There are thus 598524364 bytes (or 571 MB) of new CHD's out there. Note that I've also renamed ppp1st.chd to ppp.chd to match the name it has been going under out on the web.
As of MAME 0.93 there are 75 CHD games in MAME made up of 60 CHD's and 15 clones. There are 10 sooners that haven't yet been added to MAME. Note that it is possible that none of the 10 sooners will ever make it into MAME. Until these games are successfully emulated it is impossible to tell whether the dumps are good or not.
I've updated the CHD Info page, See Tim's Emulation Page.
Head over the the official MAME site to grab MAME 0.93. This release is a double whammy, containing a major sound core rewrite by Aaron Giles and some astonishing progress with Seibu SPI decryption by Nicola Salmoria. Read the whatsnew.txt for more information. Don't forget to report any sound core bugs (that weren't in the previous release) to MAME Testers.
I've updated the Infos: CHD, Baddumps, Nodumps, BIOS's. The Baddump + Nodump total is 190 + 220 = 410, no change to baddumps and no change to nodumps from MAME 0.92u2000. See Tim's Emulation Page.
This is incredible news. Haze had no alternative but to release MAME 0.92u2000. Nicola Salmoria has cracked the sprite/tile encryption for Raiden Fighter's 2. Recall that Ville Linde has done much good work on this driver too and Nicola's work is the icing on the cake. Read the whatsnew.txt for more information.
Note that Haze has adopted a strange name for the release. I don't think this is part of a new naming standard. It's more like Haze is having a quiet jab at those that attach too much importance to the name of MAME releases and have been nagging him with inane questions like "what happen's after MAME 0.99?" and "will the MAME project end?", etc.
I've updated the Infos: CHD, Baddumps, Nodumps, BIOS's. The Baddump + Nodump total is 190 + 220 = 410, baddumps up by 18 and no change to nodumps from MAME 0.92. See Tim's Emulation Page.
A new CHD sooner is currently doing the rounds. Going by the extensive name "Para Para Paradise (2000)(Konami).chd", I've shortened its name to ppp1st.chd so it adopts the same naming convention as the ppp2nd.chd sooner. Note that this CHD may never make it into MAME. I've added the details to the CHD Info page. See Tim's Emulation Page.
As of MAME 0.92 there are 75 CHD games in MAME made up of 60 CHD's and 15 clones. There are 6 sooners that haven't yet been added to MAME. Many thanks to Anton Belenki for the news.
As mentioned by Haze in his release plans, MAME 0.92 has been released over at MAME 0.92. There are many changes and improvements, so check out the whatsnew.txt. Note there are several rom renames so put your favourite rom manager to work.
The major sound core rewrite by Aaron Giles will now commence and if all goes well will arrive with MAME 0.93, the next major release (with a few u releases in between no doubt).
I've updated the Infos: CHD, Baddumps, Nodumps, BIOS's. The Baddump + Nodump total is 172 + 220 = 392, baddumps up by 6 and nodumps up by 4 from MAME 0.91u2. See Tim's Emulation Page.
I'm getting old, I can't keep up with the MAME releases :-) Haze has come out with MAME 0.91u2. The main focus of this release was to remove all the compiler warnings. There are also a TMZS update by Nicola Salmoria and other changes as well. See the whatsnew.txt.
A valiant effort has been made to remove all the compile warnings that appeared when the project upgraded to MinGW 3.1.0 from 2.0.0. The new compiler has stricter checks and MAME uses the "-Wall" compiler switch to enable all optional warnings and several other specific "-W" switches for other warnings. The MAME project has high standards with their source code. It needs to be kept clean and without warnings for maximum portability to other compilers and platforms. While most of the warnings were benign, like unused variables or functions etc, there were some more important ones that needed to be addressed. It is always desirable to have warningless compiles. Then when you make changes to the code you can be sure that any warnings that occur are a result of your changes and can then fix them.
I've updated the Infos: CHD, Baddumps, Nodumps, BIOS's. The Baddump + Nodump total is 166 + 216 = 382, no change to baddumps and nodumps up by 5 from MAME 0.91u1. See Tim's Emulation Page.
Details of the 10 new CHD's are now available. With MAME 0.91u1 there are now 75 CHD games in MAME made up of 60 CHD's and 15 clones. There are 5 sooners that haven't yet been added to MAME.
It turns out that the old gauntdl.chd is not easily patchable so it's a fresh download required for that one. This obsoletes the old sooner gauntdl.chd. In summary, of the 10 new CHD's:
- 3 are covered by 3 CHD Sooners (if you have them).
- 6 are brand new and need to be downloaded.
- There is a diff patch available for creating gauntleg.chd from gauntl12.chd using the command: chdman -merge gauntl12.chd gauntl12_to_gauntleg.diff gauntleg.chd
I've updated CHD Info for 91u1. See Tim's Emulation Page.
There been some information revealed on IRC on the sizes of the new CHD's. The size requirements are rather substantial, around 8.8 GB's.
