30th - MAME 0.99u5 Released

Aaron has released MAME 0.99u5. Read the whatsnew.txt for details.

Note that the diff file is from 99u3 to 99u5, 99u4 being removed due to a request from Arika - resulting in the removal of some drivers. If you are on 99u4, you will need to first reverse patch back to 99u3 via "patch -p0 -R < 099u4.diff".

I've updated the Infos: CHD, Baddumps, Nodumps, BIOS's. The Baddump + Nodump total is 232 + 252 = 484, baddumps up by 2 and no change to nodumps from MAME 0.99u4. See Tim's Emulation Page.

25th - MAME 0.99u4 Released

Hot on the heals of MAME 0.99u3, Aaron has released MAME 0.99u4. The MAME spring clean continues. The skip_disclaimer option has been removed and a massive core structure renaming cleanup is underway. Read the whatsnew.txt for details.

I've updated the Infos: CHD, Baddumps, Nodumps, BIOS's. The Baddump + Nodump total is 230 + 252 = 482, no change to baddumps and no change to nodumps from MAME 0.99u3. See Tim's Emulation Page.

23th - MAME 0.99u3 Released

Aaron has released MAME 0.99u3. ST-V, SPI, Model3 and PowerPC improvements abound. Internal display of the mameinfo.dat and history.dat has been removed - it looks better in MAME derivatives like MAME32 anyway. The user interface infrastructure has been overhauled by Aaron. Read the whatsnew.txt for details.

the following options from mame.ini are no longer understandable by mame.exe. You will need to comment them out or create a new config via "mame -cc".

  • clones
  • history_file
  • mameinfo_file
  • debug_resolution
  • resamplefilter
  • maxlogsize
  • crconly

The display of MameInfo and History has been placed in the front end domain and you cannot view them directly from mame.exe anymore.

I've updated the Infos: CHD, Baddumps, Nodumps, BIOS's. The Baddump + Nodump total is 230 + 252 = 482, no change to baddumps and no change to nodumps from MAME 0.99u2. See Tim's Emulation Page.

  • 17th - Cunningham Update

An August update over at The Cunningham Project Site.

I've rerun my program to generate an updated set of Cunningham tables in my favourite format.

    See Tim's Mathematics Page.

    15th - MAME 0.99u2 Released

Aaron has released MAME 0.99u2. As of this release, the criteria for inclusion in MAME is now simply "Any primarily video based arcade machine, driven by one of more CPU's". This new criteria results in the inclusion of drivers that had previously been excluded from MAME - e.g. the gambling drivers.

Another nice change is that Mathis Rosenhauer has added MNG recording support (shift+F12 by default). See the whatsnew.txt for details.

I've updated the Infos: CHD, Baddumps, Nodumps, BIOS's. The Baddump + Nodump total is 230 + 252 = 482, baddumps up by 6 and nodumps up by 8 from MAME 0.99u1. See Tim's Emulation Page.

    11th - MAME 0.99u1 Released

Aaron has released MAME 0.99u1. The game.cfg format has changed to be more generic and extendable. As a result, all game.cfg files from previous MAME releases will not work. Delete them and start again (unless you can find a way to convert them to the new format). See the whatsnew.txt for details.

I've updated the Infos: CHD, Baddumps, Nodumps, BIOS's. The Baddump + Nodump total is 224 + 244 = 468, no change to baddumps and no change to nodumps from MAME 0.99. See Tim's Emulation Page.

    7th - CHD Sooner Update

I've been neglecting the CHD Sooners of late. Typically, there has been a lot of movement in this space. It turns out that there are 7 new CHD sooners roaming the Internet wild. They are the following:

    1. Battle Tryst (btltryst.chd)
    2. Candy Puzzle (cndypuzl.chd)
    3. Dance Dance Revolution 2nd Mix (ddr2nd.chd)
    4. Guitar Freaks (gtrfrks.chd)
    5. Harem Challenge (haremchl.chd)
    6. Laser Quiz (lsrquiz.chd)
    7. Laser Quiz 2 (lsrquiz2.chd)

As of MAME 0.99 there are 76 CHD games in MAME made up of 61 CHD's and 15 clones. There are 19 sooners that haven't yet been added to MAME. Note that it is possible that none of the 19 sooners will ever make it into MAME. Until these games are successfully emulated it is impossible to tell whether the dumps are good or not.

I've updated the CHDInfo's to reflect these changes. See Tim's Emulation Page.

    6th - MAME 0.99 Released

Aaron has released MAME 0.99. It's revealed that the next version of MAME will be 0.100, so if you have any code relying on 2 digit extensions, now is the time to remove it. See the whatsnew.txt for details.

I've updated the Infos: CHD, Baddumps, Nodumps, BIOS's. The Baddump + Nodump total is 224 + 244 = 468, no change to baddumps and no change to nodumps from MAME 0.98u4. See Tim's Emulation Page.

A new month and another MAME delta. Aaron has released MAME 0.98u3. Several fixes. A Dev tagteam effort has resulted in deco 156 encryption. See the whatsnew.txt for details.
