DISCLAIMER - THE METHODS OF CONTROLLING AN UNMANNED VEHICLE DETAILED BELOW ARE POTENTIALLY LETHAL. YOU CAN KILL SOMEONE, AN ANIMAL OR A ROSE GARDEN IF YOU ARE NOT CAREFUL. I ACCEPT NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR LOSS OF LIFE, BEER PRIVILEGES OR SEX FOR CONSEQUENCES THAT ARE BEYOND MY CONTROL. IF YOU DECIDE TO BUILD A MOWER LIKE MINE YOU DO SO AT YOUR OWN RISK. BY BUILDING THE PROJECTS STATED BELOW YOU ARE ACKNOWLEDGING THAT IT IS ONLY YOUR FAULT IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG.

OK The operation manual below describes the operation of the Advanced Interface only (only because the Simple Interface is unbuilt/tested as yet).

Section 1 - Operation Manual

When test driving the mower for the first time, always turn on your RC transmitter first!!!

Then turn on the power to the wheelchair controller which will power up the receiver circuitry. Now the circuitry will wait for a 'neutral' from the transmitter.
move the Transmitter trimmers around until the calibration LEDs light up. Once they are both permanently lit for 4 seconds, they will flash and the joystick interface circuit will arm the outputs, enabling the transmitter.

Pics (left to right)

1:    Trim adjusters to twiddle to "calibrate" the RC interface. Note the reversed second channel - you may have to do the same.

2:    One Channel calibrated (I had two LEDs per channel in a "cross" pattern just to be different, but is unnecessary)

3:    The other channel is calibrated

4:    Both channels calibrated - after 4 seconds, they will flash several times and the mower is ready for action!.

If at any time the transmitter signal is lost, the mower will stop dead and you will have to re-calibrate before you can continue. This is a much needed safety feature.

In addition, as an 'emergency stop' just turn off your transmitter and the interface will stop the mower.
