Wineries

Margaret River produces some of Australia's premium wines. Arum Retreat lies in the heart of this region, and enjoys easy access to all of the wineries, North and South along Caves Rd. Select out your favourite wineries and visit the Cellar Doors yourself, or join one of the many Wine Tours that are offered out of Margaret River.

Edwards Vineyard (7 min)
In 1994, Edwards Estate planted a modest 6 acres of Semillon. Since then their planting has steadily increased to 60 acres. The gently undulating property with abundant water and gravelly loam soils, coupled with a strict viticultural policy requiring low yield per vine, has consistently produced berries of intense colour and flavour.
Their varieties include Chardonnay, Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
Tiger Moth Matilda has been synonymous with the Edwards vineyard since her epic flight from England to Australia for charity in 1990. She now resides in a hangar for viewing next to the cellar door on Caves Road, just 8 kilometers north of the Margaret River Township.

The Cullen restaurant overlooks the historic vineyard located in Cowaramup. The building's unique construction from granite and timber, blends harmoniously with the surroundings and provides a relaxing place to enjoy a glass of wine, lunch or a coffee.
Children are well catered for with special meals, an extensive lawn area, undercover veranda area and an activity box.

Moss Wood (14 min)
Moss Wood is both the most exciting and frustrating winery in the Margaret River region.
Exciting because they simply make the very best wines.
Frustrating because the wines are made in such small quantities.
The wines produced at Moss Wood are: Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Semillon and from Moss Wood's Ribbon Vale Vineyard: Semillon Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Merlot and Merlot. We also produce a Cabernet Sauvignon from Glenmore Vineyard in Yallingup and Montgomery Brothers Vineyard in Cowaramup; as well as Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from grapes sourced from Lefroy Brook Vineyard in Pemberton.

Vasse Felix (12 min)
Vasse Felix was the first commercial vineyard and winery to be established in the Margaret River region of Western Australia.
The vineyard took its unusual name from an early event in the district. Vasse was a French seaman who drowned last century when his longboat overturned near the site of Busselton while exploring the coastline on the ship "Geographe" under Captain Freycinet.

Voyager Estate (5 min)
Formerly Freycinet, which was established by the Gheradi family in 1978 and purchased by Michael Wright in 1991, the manicured gardens and striking Cape Dutch style of the magnificent tasting rooms together with the biggest flag pole this side of Canberra, make a statement in no uncertain terms that Michael wanted to be different!
The Cabernet Merlot and Chardonnay in particular are fine wines, very much in the classic Margaret River style. Their Shiraz and Semillon Sauvignon Blanc are also being hailed amongst the best in the region.
Added to these great wines is the establishment of their restaurant, which offers a magnificent view and feeling of pure luxury. Bookings are strongly recommended.
