Feeling strongly about responsible pet ownership means we conduct our own Puppy Schools.
- Teach’s your puppy basic obedience training including sit, stay, come, heel (use of the lead), drop and fetch (for fun)
- Teaches your pup to socialise properly with puppies of a similar age. If your puppy is shy, it will bring it out of its shell, if it is a bit rough or boisterous, teaches it good manners.
- We cover a wide cross section of health care issues important to you and your puppy including diet, dental care, sterilisation, microchipping, legal resposinbilities etc.
- We cover a bit of dog “psychology” - getting into your dog’s mind to understand how the learning process works and how your puppy works out who’s boss in the family - it will suprise you how easy it is for your
dog to think it’s boss!
- We have lots of fun! You watch your and other puppies play and can meet felow pets and their owners all going through similar trials as yourself.
- We follow the well known and respected AMREX approach to running puppy schools and found their gentle and positive training approach to work well since early 1998. You can then follow this training with further
obedience classes run by AMREX at park venues around Perth. Ask us for details.
- We can cover any special training or behavioural problems you may be experiencing with you puppy during the classes.
Some facts you should know about our Puppy Schools:
- There are 4 x 1 hour evening sessions run weekly on weeknights (contact the practice to confirm nights). The cost is $66.00 for the 4 sessions. Book a place by indicating your interest with our
receptionist - best around the 12 week vaccination - and we will contact you when the next class is starting and confirm your booking.
- Puppies need to have had their 12 week vaccination at least 7 - 10 days prior to being able to enter a class. All you need is a collar and a nice long lead (1.5 to 1.8m long) - preferably not an extendable lead.
You can bring one other member of the family if you wish to share the fun as well as training.
- Preferably dont feed your puppy for 6 hours prior to the class - this keeps your pup’s mind sharp and responsive to food rewards used for training sessions.
