Tailor can be caught on a wide variety of baits, including whole or cut fish, mulies, herring, whiting etc. Many fisherman have lots of success using lures such as metal slices or poppers and any of the wide variety of minnow type lures and even saltwater flies.

Best fishing is had at dawn and dusk casting into a south wester ,although, fish can be sometimes taken at anytime. Wrapping your mulie in ghost cotton will help keep it on the hook cast after cast and is very inexpensive.

Bag and size limits do apply, so be careful and ensure that we have fish for the future.

Always use a swivel and heavy traceline as tailor can easily bite through monoline.

A fixed sinker is necessary in very heavy surf.

Use of a treble on the end of the rig is good but not always needed and can make release of undersize fish difficult.
