CANAL
ROCKS and SUGARLOAF ROCK
CAPE NATURALISTE |
| Canal Rocks is situated approx 2.5 - 3 hrs drive south of Rockingham on the Coast rd. It is easy to find just go via the southwest hwy and continue to Busselton and follow the signs to Yallingup. The area is heavily populated with kangaroos so drive carefully . Access is then via Canal Rocks Rd. A footbridge is provided to access the canals but some rock climbing is required ( easy ). Salmon can be taken here along with Tailor and Herring and Skippy. Patience is the key to catching Salmon as they move thru very quickly and are not always available. Talking to the locals and watching for reports can be of benefit. |
Although fairly shallow in the canals it is an ideal place to spin lures and when calm is an ideal saltwater flyfishing spot. | ||
<< Sugarloaf Rock is another spot near Canal Rocks and access is fairly difficult to the end and extremely dangerous in rough seas or heavy swell. Calm conditions are ideal for Herring and Tailor but watch the weather as it can change very quickly. |
