How to Write a Submission
- Get acquainted with the issue by reading the report, any information sheets and talking to people.
- Make a list of points you want to cover and organise them into a logical order.
- Write the letter using the following format:
<Name of person you are writing the submission to (check first page or info sheet)>
<Title >
<Address><Date>
Dear <Title or Sir/Madam>
Re: <title of report or issue>
<body of letter - use headings or point form>
<concluding recommendations>
Yours sincerely/faithfully
<your signature>
<your address>
- Write the envelope and post it.
- Give yourself a pat on the back for taking the time to show you care.
Tips
- Remember to keep it simple and not too long.
- Don't agonize over it. Something is better than nothing.
- Stick to the issues not personal attacks.
- If you get stuck, leave it for awhile and come back to it later.
