Take your free machining one step
further by a variety of water-soluble fabric techniques in your work. To those
in the know it's simple, but to the uninitiated it looks like magic! It is
so versatile that you can create from intricate lace by using only thread
to a sumptuous variety of rich and complex surfaces with thread and fabric
scraps.
A variety of techniques, uses & ideas will be demonstrated and explored
& you'll have plenty of 'hands on' time to play.
A chance for beginners & experienced alike to come away with something
new.

- amazing discoveries come across by accident.
Explore the potential for hand-made creative textile surfaces, and the use
of them in your own artistic endeavors. Let yourself go, live dangerously
and create amazingly beautiful fabrics to use in bags, book covers, or just
because! Glue, paint, burn, stamp, print and stitch delightful surface effects
- artworks in their own right!
No experience necessary [ helps if you can use a sewing machine tho']
Have loads of FUN with colour, texture and creative surface design.

Take
Silk - code TS1
with Judith Pinnell
Friday 18th July 9.30 - 3pm
Have you discovered silk 'paper'
yet?
The beautiful sheen and the electric colours of the dyed raw unspun silk fibres
used to produce the 'paper' will inspire. Learn how to prepare the silk 'paper'
and mix and match the stunning colours by using some of the different types
of raw silk. If you are already familiar with the basics of making silk 'paper'
come prepared to expand on your existing knowledge.
Judith is the author of 2 marvellous books, Take Silk & Silk 'Paper' Creations
for the Fibre Artist. We are lucky to have her living here in Perth &
teaching again with Catalyst.
N.B. Silk fibres and bonding solution will be available for purchase from
Judith at the workshop.

Workshop Information
All workshops $75. Payment essential to confirm booking.
A list of material requirements will be posted/emailed on enrolment.
See workshop description for any additional workshops fees for materials.
Where applicable, participants need to provide their own sewing machine, in
good working order
Cancellations
full refund for cancellations made up to 2 weeks prior to the workshop commencing.
Less than 2 weeks will attract a 20% administration fee.
NB: no refund for cancellations made on the day of the workshop.
During Winter 2008
we are holding monthly weekends of workshops on, usually, 3rd w/e of the month.
