Exhibitions:
Helen has continuously
exhibited since 1979, including group and solo exhibitions throughout
Australia and New Zealand.
Major exhibitions have
included Fremantle Art Gallery; Australasian Porcelain Art Teachers’
Conventions and Exhibitions (1979-1989) in all Australian States
and New Zealand; Survey South West Invitation, Bunbury Art Galleries
(1987-1992); Glyde Gallery, Mosman Park; Waterways Gallery, Armadale;
Bunbury Art Gallery; A Shed Gallery, Fremantle; and galleries in
New South Wales and Canberra.
Resident artist in 1986-87 at Bannister Street Craftworks, Fremantle.
In 1997 she collaborated with Margaret Perkins to present a mixed
media exhibition at the Cool Room Gallery, Bunbury – “Refreshing
Waters” sponsored by the Water Corporation of Western Australia.

Experience and
current work:
Helen lectured
for ten years in Art and Design Certificates and Diploma at South
West College of TAFE, Bunbury (painting, design, onglaze painting,
drawing and printmaking units).
She has conducted workshops
and seminars in various aspects of art and design in Newcastle,
Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, Perth and country areas of Western
Australia and tutors regularly in Textile Art. She is also developing
and teaching new workshops in textiles and mixed media for various
organizations in Mandurah, Bunbury and Perth.
She works in mixed media
on canvas, paper, porcelain and fabrics, combining and complementing
rich visual images for jewelry, framed works and many functional
and decorative art and craft works.
Currently she is combining
her inclination for colour, rich fabrics, porcelain and collage
with Margaret Perkins’ talents in textiles to create a range
of diverse mixed media pieces of jewelry, fibre works, porcelain,
occasional furniture and other collectables under the name of ‘HM
Designs – Hand Crafted Treasures’. . They supply galleries
and retail outlets and commissions for private clients.
