I was born and
educated in Australia and lived in the UK for 29 years
where I obtained the City and Guilds Diploma in design and
embroidery.
I also attended various courses in textile dyeing.
Returning to Perth in 1983 I embarked on 'a journey of discovery'
by
becoming involved in machine embroidery. I began teaching
in Perth,
rural Western Australia and interstate, developing an all-consuming
love
of colour and texture.
I have work in private
collections and have exhibited widely within
Australia including the National Craft Award, Darwin, also
the USA. UK
and held solo Exhibitions in Perth and New Zealand.
My work has been included in Fiberarts (USA) books no.5 and
no. 7 and
featured in Bernina (Switzerland) International calendar.
Since discovering the beauty and challenge of working with
dyed unspun
silk fibres I have been the published author of two books
on silk
'paper' - Take Silk, and 'Silk 'Paper' Creations for the Fibre
artist.
