Lorelie Smit

I first experienced the excitement of contemporary textiles and free machine embroidery through workshops with Kristin Dibbs and Ken Smith. Since then I have explored techniques including silk paper, collage, fabric painting and dying and contemporary quilting. I like to combine a variety of techniques in any piece of work I do. Currently I am producing items such as bags, wraps, wall hangings and one -off garments.
I am a qualified secondary teacher and have over 25 years experience in teaching textiles, fashion sewing and craft. I have taught primary and secondary students and adults. I really enjoy sharing my skills with others and I love to work with both beginners and the more experienced.

Click here and on the Exploring Design: Inspired by Threads Fashion Challenge 2004 link, and then the fashion Slideshow, to see Lorelies lovely work that is featured on the Threads Magazine website. Her piece is #6.
