Lucy was born in Kenya
and arrived in Australia in 1974. She has a degree
in Visual Arts (Textile Major) from Edith Cowan University.
She now runs her own small business - "Bromelli" - printing
textiles. The
styles that Lucy concerns herself with most are those that physically
or
chemically change the structure of the cloth. The techniques employed
are
devore, silk degum printing, discharge and fulling resist printing.
She
designs and makes a range of scarves and cloths that are sold in
a select
number of galleries and outlets throughout Australia. She also does
fabric"runs" for fashion designers, one-off garment comissions,
interior
fabrics and has had the oppotunity to design and make costumes for
theatre productions.
