Now the Cases are removed, it is nessary to 'UNLOAD' the tape mechanism. This is done by applying 4 to 5 volts to the loading motor. Here we connect the SONY Service selector unit.

Carefully remove the Infa red Led unit from the Base plate. Then remove 3 screws the hold the Plastic Base in place

With the base plate removed, you can now see where the Small cut is located. It looks like a Small white mark. It is two tracks that are cut that go to the Takeup reel sensor. What happens is this causes the lose of the Reel Pulse signal and then the CPU shuts down the camera, believing there is a faulty tape.

Now with the base cover removed, unclip the Idler Arm, by removing this Small split washer. Be very carefull as the washer will spring off and dissappear.
