Are you a flashpacker?
Looking for laidback adventure at affordable prices
"Flashpacker" the new buzzword now included in the latest dictionaries (2009).
Flashpacker: flash-pack-er a neoligism derived from the words flash and backpacker. A luxury backpacker. One who travels in comfort and style equipped with the latest technology.
A traveller who requires unbeatable quality and top of the line features with travel and accommodation for the best possible price.
Once they were backpackers, some years later they are looking for laid back adventure with at least three star convenience at value for money prices. A demographic of travellers who are foresaking traditional expensive organised travel and now travel by Tiger Air, Air Asia, Fireflyz, Jetstar and other low cost carriers.
Not like yuppies or grey nomads, flashpackers are a new breed of interesting people of all ages. Savvy and up with the latest happenings, they may not own a sleeping bag or backpack but are sure to have a good mobile phone (like the Nokia N95) & digital camera & adequate spending money.
Flashpackers are independent and usually research the trip well. This website is an information service and lists unsolicited ways of travel, accommodation and things to do in Asia and Western Australia.
This free internet website represents our ideas about choosing your itinerary and doing what you want to do rather than being locked into a packaged deal through expensive travel agent services who are only interested in shareholder profits. You must notice that none of them promote the low-cost carriers, some even refuse to book them, while others are asking for a $50 fee per flight sector.

Take the Flashpack Challenge
Some of the leading Australian travel agency franchises seem to make a killing from flight packages to major Asian destinations.
For example, by using links from this site we recently found an AirAsia promo return fare of Perth to KL to Penang for $A233.
A quote for the same arrangement at a major Australian travel agency was $561.
The travel agency also offered this return flight for $1146 through MAS and $1191 through Singapore Airlines.
Leaving Perth on August 25 and returning August 31 were the dates used for all quotes in this example.
Save dollars doing it the Flashpack way compared to booking through the big travel agents who seem to ignore promo deals.
