What you can do

Shark Bay World Heritage Area has crystal clear waters that are home to the Monkey Mia dolphins, turtles, rays, and multitudes of fish and one of the world’s largest populations of dugongs.

At Coral Bay cruise in a glass-bottomed boat for great underwater views.

Visit Mt Augustus and the Kennedy ranges inland from Carnarvon.

Watch the sun set over the Pinnacles in Nambung National Park. Its amazing natural limestone formations are remnants of ancient marine life.

Look for migrating whales from July to October either from vantage points along the coast or on a professional whale watching charter or flight.

Ningaloo Marine Park is a diver’s and snorkellor’s paradise where you can swim with whaler sharks (up to 18 metres long) from April to July, manta rays, coral, dolphins & whales.

Jurien Bay Marine Park is home to limestone reefs and caves, and sea lions can be observed sunning themselves on sandy beaches.

View more than 12,000 species of wildflowers that provide spectacular carpets of colour across the region from August to November . Everlastings colour the Murchison Gascoyne region from July to September.

The Abroholos Islands are made up of coral reef and 122 islands with an abundance of marine life above and below the sea and were also the setting for the famous Batavia mutiny and mass murders of the early 17th century.

Cape Range National Park has breathtaking canyons, limestone ranges and pristine beaches.

Restaurants serve fresh caught seafood from thriving prawning, crayfishing, crabbing and fishing industries.

All along the coast are white sandy beaches, sheltered coves, rock pools and waves that are great for swimming, surfing and beach fishing.
