Clarifiers
The Waterex range of clarifiers is divided into the following broad types:
-
Pin-bed.
-
Clariflocculators.
-
Clariflocculators as deep cone or flat bottom tanks supplied for extended conditioning or prolonged stepped chemical addition applications.
-
'Jet-sweep'.
-
The 'jet-sweep' clarifier is a flat bottomed clarifier providing a cost effective clarifier for bulk liquor, low contamination waters, or liquors which contain light flocs.
-
Deep cone types with or without floc cylinders.
-
Bridge (see thickeners).
-
Inclined plate (see effluent plant).
The term 'clarifier' is often loosely applied to any suspended solids/liquid separation process. In Waterex's experience thickening is the term used when the underflow density is the item of prime interest, while clarification is used when overflow quality is critical.
Deep Cone Clarifiers
The Waterex range of deep cone clarifiers have been specifically developed for the generation of high quality overflows &/or high-density underflows. When using the novel Waterex floc cylinder designs, overflow clarities more than 10 times that obtained by conventional technologies are typically realised.
-
Sizes range up to 10.0 m diameter or 1400 m3/hr/unit feed as standard.
-
Auto dilution -
-
flip plate assisted mixing and
-
hydraulic agitation realised without any moving parts.
-
Three polymer injection lances fitted as standard.
-
Hydraulic, static thickening of underflow with auto floc seeding systems fitted for many applications.
-
Materials of construction selected from protected mild steel, stainless steel of all types, duplex steels and FRP.
-
Baffled or Hirate or floc cylinder feed wells available.
-
Underflow rake drive system supplied for dense underflow applications.
Pin-Bed Clarifiers
The Waterex Hydro-Separator is a combined ultra high rate thickener and pin-bed floating media filter all in one vessel. The Pin-Bed clarifier carries out the following functions:
-
Flash mixing with primary coagulation.
-
Conditioning of the feed.
-
Coagulation.
-
Flocculation.
-
Sedimentation with sludge blanket ortho-kinetic reactions.
-
Sludge thickening.
-
Clarification.
-
Floc-cylinder clarification for high performance separation.
-
Filtration.
-
Capacities to 1500 m3/hr feed per vessel
Applications include:
-
Mine clarifiers
-
Hydrometallurgical - e.g. copper process feed prior to electro-winning or gold tails for liquor/cyanide recovery.
-
Clarification of slimes.
-
Clarification of black liquor in coal beneficiation plants.
-
Gypsum or lime slurry filtration.
-
Dual alkali caustic recovery.
-
Potable water applications.
-
Industrial effluent treatment or reclamation plants.
-
Recycling of cyclone scrubber water.
-
Removal of metal hydroxides from liquors/waters.
-
Gas scrubber liquors.
