Brewing notes |
There was no yeast in kit so we used bread yeast. Pitched on 10 Dec. Decanted into second fermenter on 17 Dec and added gelatin finings. Brewed down to 1.007. Bottled 18 Dec, using 50% extra carbonation dextrose. |

Tasting notes |
Contrary to advice, the bread yeast didn’t seem to affect flavour. However, despite the finings the beer was cloudy, suspect sediment was suspended yeast because it had a nasty effect on digestive system. Flavour and body were good, nice malty flavour, but cloudiness a big problem. Finally seemed to be settling in bottle after about 2 months but had drunk most of it by then. |
