Wheat beer WB 7/4

Ingredients

Beermakers Bavarian Wheat Beer kit

1 kg liquid wheat malt from Osb Pk

15 g Hersbrucker hops (5%)

Brewing notes

Boil 2 L water, add kit, add wheat malt.  Boil, take off heat, throw in Hersbrucker hops in stocking bag.  After about 2 mins, when hops had rehydrated, tipped into fermenter with 20 L cold water, along with hops.  Pitched yeast on 4 April.   Decanted through coffee filter on 7 April, bulk primed with 7 oz dextrose.  Just got 30 long necks out of brew.

Tasting notes

May – cloudy, low on carbonation, but excellent flavour.  Definite wheat beer characteristics and good spicy hop character.

June- cloudiness decreasing, carbonation improving a bit.

July – taste test against Redback – not quite as good wheaty flavour as redback, but not far off, a very good beer

August – carbonation now about right, pity they are all drunk.
