Brew 25

Brew Number

25

Style

Belgian Bel 18/5

Ingredients

Coopers Belgian kit??? (No such thing, could maybe be a Bavarian)

Dextrose?- Pauls brew, no notes

Brewing notes

Bottled on 18 May using brewing sugar (which includes maltodextrin, malt etc)

Tasting notes

Very gassy and frothy, very young flavour, fruity.  Needs much longer to brew through in the bottle.

August – still very frothy, one longneck fills a jug and a glass, end up with about half the amount of beer.  Can be explosive to open, watch out for the ceiling.  Light, OK flavour but still a bit like soluble paracetamol.

18 October – Paul opened one which blew the lid and contents into the ceiling.  Dangerous brew, open only under towel over sink, and store in shed.

5 Nov – about 6 months old.  Still highly overgassed.  Once you get it into a glass, a dry aroma, light dry flavour with some malt up front and a very minor dry hop flavour at the end.  Sort of like Corona, but also a slightly sour flavour, maybe more like Tooheys extra dry without the fruit overtones.  Good carbonation and head retention, very clear.
