Tasting notes |
1 September – 1 week old. Reasonable carbonation for age, quite clear. Excellent mouthfeel, strong malty sweet flavour, with well developed greenish hop flavour in aftertaste. An excellent beer for such a young age. 8 September – 2 weeks old. Taste test vs June Kilkenny and commercial can of Kilkenny. The August Kilkenny has better mouthfeel and creaminess than June version, also slightly more aromatic green flavour to the hops. Both of our Kilkennys have a more complex and interesting flavour than commercial Kilkenny. 11 November – Still an excellent flavour, but becoming over-gassed and a bit frothy. 12 Jan, 5 months old. Highly gassed but pours nicely into a wet jug. Lively bubbling in glass, good head retention. Coppery amber colour, very clear, not much on the nose. Subtle malt up front, not sweet any more, then lingering hop bitterness kicks in, with green fresh flavours. Good creamy mouthfeel. A very, very nice beer, probably better drunk not so cold. 23 Feb, 6 months old. As above, hop flavour seems more prevalent, an excellent malty creamy and quite hoppy ale. |
