Pitched yeast 21 Nov and started fermenting straight away, which confirms that it was bad malt. Bottled 27 Nov, 50% extra carbonation sugar, new capper. |

Tasting notes |
A bad beer. If we hadn’t been short of stock it would have gone down the sink. Clean, dark colour, frothy initial head but bad flavour. Very malty with liquorice. Definite soapy taste and texture. Did improve slightly after a couple of months in bottle but not a good beer. August 2002 – thought it worth a try. Getting better, almost drinkable, but still a definite cloying syrupy taste from the unfermented malt. Very gassy, hard to pour, too much carbonation sugar for long term storage. If I had any left I would keep another 6 months before trying again. |
