This page used to be about mountain biking but Simon doesnt do that any more and in fact he spits on mountain bikers as he flashes past them on a racer.

Team HTFU

Team HTFU is a casual agglomeration of (mostly) middle aged men in lycra. They cycle in Perth on a Monday and Wednesday morning before work, and head to the hills on a Saturday, followed by coffee obviously.  Team HTFU is an environment where you don't have to be nice and consider peoples feelings, you can tell someone their bum does look big in that, and you can tell people not keeping up to HTFU and get on the pace.

Reabold Climb Times

Various members of Team HTFU are training for either the Three Peaks Challenge in Victoria, the Five Dams cycle in Perth, our HTFU trip to the Dolomites in Italy in 2011, or all of the above.  We use the South Perth Roulers Kalamunda Hill climb as a guide to how we are going, but even the best of us cant get past about 30th place which is a bit annoying, so we need our own hill climb leaderboard.  We use Reabold Hill in City Beach.  Its not so much a competition as a way to see if you are improving.  But....it is also a competition!

Start point: the bollards at the bottom on the city side.

Finish point: the bollards at the carpark at the top

In between: 700m long, 50m vertical climb, ranges from 6% to 9%, reduces to 5% where the fence starts at the top.

* This is not a typo.  Phil has calves the size of rugby balls and refuses to use the small chain ring.  When he goes up Reabold, all the components on his bike squeal due to the sheer amount of power being pushed through them.
