Chess

Wembley Primary has an established chess culture; students are able to participate in Club Chess, Master Chess Classes or be involved in the interschool Metropolitan Primary School ChessCompetition.

Chess is offered to students from Year 1 to 7 to improve maths and verbal skills.The cognition process in chess and reading is very similar and both require decision-making, strategic planning, focus and social interaction.Some transfer of skills from one to the other may be expected.

Chess is a lunchtime activity and caters for students of any age and any skill level.
